It’s January and it’s that time of year when everyone is predicting the Design Trends for 2018.
Here are my thoughts on what we’ll see this year and what clients are asking for.
It’s been a year or more of neutrals! I myself am typically a “neutral queen” generally leaning towards whites, blacks and grays for a space. But, as a designer it’s our job to translate our client’s design needs into reality–and that may call for some color. Clients are asking for blues and greens.. Here comes that bold hued sofa!
I feel like wallpaper has been back for a little while, but I think we’re going to see it in an even bigger way this year. I’m not only doing grass cloth, but now bold patterns and colors. It will be interesting to see how this trend plays out
One of my favs:
You’ve seen the new collections from West Elm and CB2 among others, which are including rounded edges on sofas while still keeping a modern vibe.
A few of my fav modern, rounded sofas:
Violet Hued Interiors
With Pantone’s new Color of the Year as Ulta Violet, I think we’ll see this color pop up in all types of spaces.. It will be interesting to see if this appears in kitchens! I love violet as a sophisticated color for bedrooms or powder rooms.
Brass has been popular for a while and I think it will continue to be this year; but I also expect there to be more mixed metals.
I’m a huge fan of marble in the bathroom (but not for kitchens because of its lack of practicality). I think we’ll see more marble and lots of pattern in it!
