I’m back from Alt NYC and had a great time. We had some fantastic speakers as I mentioned yesterday. Grace Bonney of Design Sponge gave some great tips. There were a slew of design bloggers and insiders that spoke and gave some good ideas to attendees.
A few takeaways:
–Accept change; especially with technology. It’s going to happen, but also be careful. Just because someone else is coming up with an app, doesn’t mean it makes sense (both time and money wise) for you.
–Don’t forget about the power of email. People still love email. Something to consider: selling ads on newsletter space instead of your blog
–Pinterest–shoot VERTICAL photos to post; they take up more space on Pinterest and therefore viewers see more of your photo
–Pinterest–You can track to see what people are pinning from your site with this URL below
Please note I just tried this, this morning and an error code came up, so not sure what is going on.
Finally our regular LINKS YOU’LL LOVE:
-If you’re throwing a party, I read about Pitch Cabernet Sauvignon–you can buy it here and it is only $15 a bottle and gets great reviews.
-J Brand Jeans came out with super slimming version called “Photo Ready”. They claim you look almost a full size smaller! Available at Bergdorf Goodman
–If you have linen drapes like me, you know they can wrinkle. Check out the Haan Handheld Steamer I read about in InStyle. You can use it for your drapes, but also your clothes and even floors! It’s only $60!
