Unique Art: Acrylic Frames and A DIY Option

Happy Monday!

As our own family room makeover has begun (you can check out @jwsinteriors on Instagram for a sneak peek), I am now looking for art, which led me to writing this post.

For a fashion-forward condo we designed, we used a custom acrylic frame to artfully hang the client's beautiful silk scarf as the centerpiece of her living room.  Here's a pic of what we did.

You don't have to have a scarf to frame to make your space look fab. You can frame anything that is of importance or interest to you.

Custom framing can be expensive, so I wanted to share with you this post from Style Me Pretty on doing your own acrylic frame which will save you some bucks!

Decorating Your Fireplace Mantel: 5 Photos You'll Love (And Can Easily Re-Create)

For years people have asked me "How should I decorate my mantel?"

And, it's a great question. Typically, when I walk in someone's home for the first time, I'll see the fireplace and note the requisite candle holders; maybe a mirror, and little "chotchkies" randomly placed.

Well, today I'm here to show you that you can take down all of your decorative accessories and start anew. Go "shopping" around your home to see what items from other rooms you can use to re-decorate the mantel.

Here are several great examples of how you can decorate your mantel, depending on your style and taste.

Which is your fav?

Decorate Like A Designer: Learn to Layer

Happy Friday!

Today I'm sharing rooms that showcase beautiful layers.  Want your home to look like it was professionally decorated?
Learn to layer.

Layering your room is the idea of mixing finishes, textures, styles and more. You can layer rugs, add in nubby throw pillows and blankets, mix in some varied metal finishes and your home will start to look pulled together. Even your walls you can mix up with different finishes of paint , incorporating wallpaper (such as grasscloth) or even adding ship lap or wood paneling for added texture.

Don't forget to layer in different fabrics too-- mix linen and silk, cotton and velvet, leather and chenille. Whatever it is, the more you mix, the more you may love!  (And, mixing metals is ok!)
