My Designer Crush

There are several interior designers that I love for their aesthetic-- Kelly Wearstler, Windsor Smith, Ryan Korban and Nate Berkus.

And, now I can add a new designer that I absolutely adore in terms of her design work-- Tamara Magel.

I accidentally stumbled upon her work on Pinterest and fell in love with her modern, and sometimes glamorous approach to design.  All of her designs really resonated with me when I hopped over to her beautiful website.

Check out some of these favorite rooms she's designed. Impressed? I bet so!

The Hunt for White Sofas

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend. To all the Dads out there--Happy Father's Day!

I'm on the hunt for white sofas for our family room re-do. I have a couple in mind already and am scoping out Pinterest to help me finalize which style works best.

If whatever I choose doesn't come in an indoor/outdoor material, I'm going to call Fiber Seal to come out and spray the material (they have eco-friendly products) so that we don't have to worry about stains.

Which of these is your fav?

Meet The Designer Who Can Bring Six Brands Together

Tasked with designing a Manhattan loft and incorporating products from each company, Jennifer Wagner Schmidt put one go-to design tool to work — color.

The ELEVATE Design Collective has defied all expectations, bringing together six brands —
Delta Faucet Company, Formica Corporation, Hunter Fan, JELD-WEN, KitchenAid, and Schlage —
with a single task: To create a product featuring the new Pantone color Single Malt.
The silky, relaxed hue, which evokes the unimpeachable comfort of sipping a stiff drink
by the fire, would act as the equalizer of sorts, tying the products together inside a spacious
New York City loft.
To help accomplish their mission, the collective, along with a creative director, enlisted Jennifer Wagner Schmidt, a Washington, D.C.- and New York City-based designer, who started her career in tech PR
during the dot-com boom. Though she's done work for clients like Oracle and VeriSign, design has
always been in Schmidt's blood and, after doing the whole "I'm jaded" thing and having a kid, she
quit her PR job and struck out into the design world.
In 2013, Home & Design magazine listed Schmidt as a one of their "hot talent, "and in 2015, Harper's Bazaar chose her as one of their inspiring women for the influential "Fabulous at Every Age" feature.
Since then, Schmidt has been on a meteoric rise. We spoke with her about her process, how she ended
up on this first-of-its-kind project, and what broader implications it may have for the world of design.

Herringbone Floors For a New Look In My Home

If you've been following me on Instagram, I recently mentioned that I got the "green light" to re decorate our family room!

I'm so excited to start over and move our current furniture to the basement so our girls have more furniture to sit on when their friends come...

And this means... white sofas !!!  I'm going to get them sprayed with Fiber Seal to stain guard them from spills, stains, etc.

Since we have carpet that I'm not thrilled with, I'm looking into doing herringbone floors and in a different color than the rest of the house. It's a little different, but since the family room is delineated from the rest of the house by columns, I think we can get away with it.

Here are my inspiration photos for herringbone floors!

What do you think?

There isn't anything about this Barcelona flat that I'm not absolutely obsessed with. The whitewashed herringbone floors, the black trimmed windows, the vaulted ceilings, the exposed brick, the old world fireplace, the free standing bathtub in the bedroom, the oversized lanterns and the super long:
