The Washington Post Features JWS Interiors and Box of Chic

Washington Post writer Jura Koncius gave me an extra spring in my step today!

She wrote this wonderful article on JWS Interiors & Box of Chic.  I couldn't be more honored and thrilled!

Here's a quick snippet of the article. Click here to read in its entirety.

We finished curating the holiday box and I'll give you a hint--we have a marble piece in the box.  It's only $49 for the box ..can't say it enough when I say this is an awesome gift for someone who loves design and/or entertaining!

Thanks for letting me share my passion with all of you!

Mud Room Marvelous

Hi Everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend!
A special shout out to my Dad--we celebrated his birthday this weekend with our entire family. So grateful to have him in our lives!

Today, and likely because I'm looking at my disorganized mud room, I wanted to focus on getting organized now that school is starting.

In fact, our mudroom door entry to the garage is so small, that it hits the dryer door if both doors are opened at the same time!

I've been dying to create a larger space in there but I  don't have any time right now to build it out and make it a neat place for my kids' coats, shoes, book bags, etc.

Which leads me to this glorious photo of a mudroom (with nice built ins in the family room) by Rebecca Loewke Interiors based in Menlo Park, California.

My favorite feature--the genius idea to have pull out drawers for shoes! Love!

What do you think?

New Ideas For My Daughter's Room

So I may have mentioned this before, but my daughter wants to re-do her bedroom, and rightly so.  She needs new paint, a bigger bed, and well, she wants lavender.

I've been doing research on different ideas for her space and wanted to share.

Which is your fav?

luv the fluff and pop of purple

A pale lavender may be another option? It looks nice with white and green accents.

Lust List: An Oval Tulip Table

I don't know about you but I like to switch things up in my home--furniture, pillows, you name it.  I guess it's part of my nature and my job!

I want to update my breakfast room. It's a beautiful space filled with windows and the current table we have--well--is not my favorite.

I'm looking for a beautiful oval tulip table.. Thinking marble is gorgeous but won't work with my kids, so I've decided a white lacquer may be best.

Decorating Like A Pro--Finding the Vignettes In Your Home

Good morning everyone!

Today I wanted to write up a quick blog post about decorating like a decorator---what I mean by this is finding vignettes in your home (a chest with mirror over, fireplace mantle, coffee table, an end table with accessories, a bar area, etc) and decorating that particular space just right so that it feels "finished."

If you take a look around your home, I bet you can find a lot of vignettes that are worth re-arranging, updating, or perhaps even overhauling. This may help you when you want to "finish" or "update" a room and you don't know where to start.

Here are images of vignettes  I've done across several projects.  My stellar photographer Stacy Zarin Goldberg took all of the photos.

Good morning JWS readers!

It was a relaxing weekend for me which is exactly what I needed after an extremely hectic work week.

I found this gorgeous breakfast nook on Instagram and had posted yesterday, so for those of you not on Instagram, here it is.   I've decided this is very similar to how I want to decorate my breakfast room.

What do you think?

Also, the countdown is on for our big news over here at JWS!  Hooray! Months and months of work by me, my web team and one very trusty resource (you know who you are) are coming together ! This is going to be exciting!
