Gorgeous Gardens & Outdoor Spaces

Hi Everyone!
I hope your weekend was fab!  We got back from our getaway with our girls late Sunday evening. Such a beautiful weekend and it was nice to have lots of R&R!

After just spending so much time outdoors, I found these gorgeous  spaces I wanted to share with you!

These hardy, heavy-wooded, vigorous, deciduous vines are invaluable for screening and for draping over verandahs and porches, with the dense foliage providing cool shade during the warmer months, then as the weather cools and the leaves fall, the winter sun is allowed to penetrate. The flowers are highly scented.

Summer Vibes

I don't know about you, but summer is my absolute favorite season--maybe it's because my birthday is actually the first day of summer, but really it's just the warm weather that puts me in a great mood!

To that end, we are starting the weekend early here with a little R&R.

Packed my bathing suit, glasses, magazines, and more.

Enjoy your weekend!

Modern Family Room Project Reveal!

Hi Everyone,

If you follow me on Instagram (@jwsinteriors), you saw yesterday a photo revealing a recent modern family room project I just completed.

Today I wanted to share with you all the photos of this fun project for a family of 6!

My clients wanted a modern space and after finding the gorgeous cobalt blue sofa at ABC Carpet and Home in NYC, the rest of the design came to fruition.  I couldn't resist that color!

Thanks to Charlotte Safavi and photographer Stacy Goldberg for helping me on this project!

The Case for Charcoal Colored Walls & My Favorite Dark Gray Paint

Hi Everyone! I hope you had a great weekend!
Today I wanted to share with you charcoal gray rooms--one of my favorite colors.

You can use a dark gray in any room. For example in a powder room it can be amazing--an enveloping, dramatic feeling ...   In a dining room, dark gray eludes to a sexiness and coziness.

I'm currently working on a gray scheme for a family room project and it's coming along beautifully.

And, my favorite dark gray paint?

I adore Benjamin Moore "Gray".. Yep, it's actually called Gray. LOVE!

Intense Neutrals This gray brown is warm and dramatic-love the contrast with the creamy crown molding and ceiling and the almond exposed wood on the chairs.

10. Drama! Even the brightest, most cheerful bedrooms need an element of dark, sexy glamour. This bedroom by Windsor Decorating and Design has them in spades: The moody wall paint, the theatrical chandelier, even an oversized gray headboard does the trick. But notice how clean lines and touches of white keep it from looking like a bordello: That balance is key. Stick with one or two pieces and you'll be golden.

Friday Favorite: A Fabulous DIY Chalk Paint Dresser

Happy Friday!

Today I wanted to share this great DIY dresser I found from  She used chalk paint and super cool hardware to make over a dresser.

I'm not a crafty person at all, so I'm super impressed when people take on projects like these.

Check it out!

Tiled Kitchen Wall/Breakfast Nook

In case you haven't noticed, I'm obsessed with breakfast nooks and this one caught my eye because the back wall of the banquette is completed tiled!  What a great idea when you have wall that can be tiled to the ceiling!

Make Your Dining Room Usable All Year-Round

I don't know about you, but a lot of people I know have dining rooms--they just don't use them.

Which leads me to this post and why perhaps we take a second look at this usually unused space (90% of my clients rarely use theirs), what if we paid as much attention decorating the dining room as we do our family room?  What if we spent the same amount of money and time--my guess is we would actually use the dining room more-- for ourselves, entertaining, or if you are like me and work from home--perhaps as a new change of pace during the work week.

I loved each of these spaces for different reasons and could easily "live" in any of them.

Which is your favorite?
