A Dining Room To Die For

So Folks, to me, this is pretty much IT for a dining room. This room is nothing short of fabulous or glamorous. I love everything about it.

The room is by Gabriel Hendifar and is utterly chic. I would LOVE to live in this space!

What do you think??

Celebrity Black & Whites

I don't know what it is about black and white photos, but I adore them.. Better yet, I adore a good looking man in black and white!

Check out these  fantastic photos of celebrities..done right.

Quote for the Day

This is not about conformity, but having the wit and spontaneity of being able to adjust to unpredictable events.. Obsessed

Jeffrey Bilhuber

One of the very first design books I ever bought was by Jeffrey Bilhuber. I bought it years ago as I've always loved his timeless style.

Check out this gorgeous living room he did featured in Architectural Digest. I love the animal print, the large black and white photographs and the oddball lantern having above.

Photo of the Day

So, I'm now obsessed with the Oly Studio Sea Urchin, seen here on the table. Ours just arrived for my glam condo project. Check out JWS Interiors Facebook page to see how it arrived!

I just saw this photo and wanted to share. I love the banquettes and how they curve to the walls. Check out the wood paneling on the ceiling too!

Enjoy your weekend!

Links to Love

OMG!  Has it been a whirlwind of a week for you?

I thought today I'd share some favorite links. I LOVE finding new things on other blogs and thought I should do more of the same here on Affordable Luxury.

So, I'm going to try hard to post more links that I love, be it food, design, fashion, travel, you name it!

And, please don't hesitate to share yours---let the goodness go 'round!

1) KALE CHIPS--folks... my kids are actually ASKING for this as their snack. I'm going through bags of kale every week!
This recipe that has different variations so you can mix it up.. Hands down winner and you can eat as much as you want!

2) Just bought these shoes.. Think they will go great with shorts and maxi dresses when I need to look professional and still be comfortable walking around the city. Haven't arrived yet.. am hoping they are fab!

3)CHAIRS--so I've mentioned this photoshoot.. I'm spending a ton of time trying to update spaces in my house.. feeling a bit overwhelmed because I feel like every room is half done.. Anyone with me here?
I LOVE these chairs.. the original Kartell chairs are too much since I need 8.  Am thinking I'll go for it and use in my kitchen.

Loving this Look

I wanted to share today this image because I loved it for several reasons. It's actually an easy to create design scheme..  2-2-3

Famed designer Amanda Nisbet  has placed two chairs with 2 matching pillows side by side and then added in 3 small tables to act as 1 larger coffee table.

The matching pillows and chairs provide cohesion; the blanket that extra needed accessory to pull it together. I LOVE the piping on the chairs. Again, an extra detail.

Look closely and you'll notice the sofa facing these two chairs is reverse--darker blue with light piping!

What say you??

A New Favorite Modern Chandelier Under $400

One thing I love about my job is that every project and every client calls for a specific look, so it's fun to have this versatility when I'm researching and shopping for clients.

Case in point, I just found this modern chandelier by Schoolhouse Electric and fell in love.  It's definitely modern but I love it's industrial look.

I had to share since it's a fav but also a great deal at only $399!

PS-Check out "My Style" on Pinterest..I've been pinning a ton!

Hi Everyone!

This weekend has been great so far! My husband surprised me and came home early from his business trip with Vosages chocolate in hand.. Gasp Swoon.. I was a very happy lady!

With Mother's Day and other birthdays coming up, I thought I'd share this Sole Society gorgeous, affordable bracelet that would make a fantastic gift for someone (or for yourself!)

An Ode to Pink (Peonies)

With Valentine's Day swirling around, what girl doesn't like pink this time of year--especially if you are like me and stuck in a snow blizzard here in DC!

Peonies are my all-time favorite flower, it doesn't get any prettier than this.

I like the string around the flowers. Peonies

Room of the Day

I don't know about you, but I'm at home today with my daughters because we have a blizzard here in Virginia. Snow has drifted on our deck over a foot high!

I hope you are staying toasty and warm!

Here's a gorgeous room I came across by Caldwell Flake Interiors and wanted to share. I love how modern, light and bright it is.

I would actually love to have that table in my breakfast and I've already begun looking for one similar. The use of the bench with the two different types of chairs works here because they kept the color the same throughout.

Do you know where I can find that table?

Caitlin Wilson Launches New Rug Collection

Devil is in the Details: Gorgeous Details That Set A Room Apart

As I mentioned to you yesterday, I'm in the throws of updating my own home and of course thanks to Pinterest have 1,000 ideas of what I'd like to do, such as these photos below.

The decorating is in the details, right?

Check out these beautiful, different, and high-impact design details that can "make" a room.

Which is your fav?

Umm. Yes, I'd like custom doors like THIS!

Black ceiling! Who would have thought this could look so darn good?!

Using Vintage in Your Decor--Cane Chairs Redone

Hope you all had a great weekend!

In addition to all my projects, I'm working on my own home in anticipation of a photo shoot for another blog and am super excited!

I can't spill the beans yet, but needless to say, I'm feverishly finishing up my master bedroom (can't WAIT to show you!) and as part of this process I'm refurbishing my mom's 30+ year old cane chairs. I'm having them painted and re-upholstered.  Paint will likely be white and upholstery will be leopard! No surprise there!!

Today, I'm sharing you some great examples of cane chairs, like my mom's (thank you Mom!) that have been re-done to FABULOUS-NESS!

Which is your fav?

I do enjoy a nicely painted caned chair.

reupholstered cane chair - I just got two wicker chairs that I want to fix up ... might try to do this.

SNEAK PEEK : Glam Condo Project

Hi Everyone!

I was checking in on our progress for our project "Glam Condo" and am thrilled with how everything is coming along.

We decided to do lacquered walls in the dining room in a deep, moody, dark gray --It's called Ambler Slate by Benjamin Moore. I think this might be my new favorite shade of gray!

Check out how gorgeous it turned out?

You can see our marble top table arrived. (yes, that's the old chandelier--new one just arrived so we'll be putting that in soon!)

Also you'll see the glass front doors my client selected for her closet as well as the Master Bedroom wallpaper we used for an accent wall..

Can't wait to keep you updated!

February Wish List

So while we may get snow today, I'm dreaming of warmer weather. Blue skies, warm sun...all sounds good to me.

I was perusing online and found some cool items I loved and wanted to share. Here they are!

All White

Good morning! You all know me..I love white, so when I came across this beautiful light-filled white room, I fell in love. It's interesting because this room has the large ottoman and then 2 medium sized ones adjacent to it!

New Monthly Blogger Collaboration/Valentine's Day Tablescape Photoshoot

Happy Monday everyone!

I am super excited to share with you today's blog post with you!

I've teamed up with my fellow designer friend Fanny Zigdon of Home On The Runway, a fantastic fashion-infused design blog that you have to check out! Her great features coupled with her design eye, make this blog one you will be reading daily!

Fanny and I met as part of Home & Design Magazine's  "HOT Talent" designer feature last summer which showcased 7 local, up-and-coming Washington, D.C. interior designers.

Perhaps it was our love of leopard, or that our birthdays are within weeks of each other, but nonetheless, we are excited to team up to start sharing with you a MONTHLY STYLING SERIES we'll be working on together that will be original, eye-catching, and hopefully inspirational to you!

This month we are kicking off the series with our Valentine's Day tablescape which we created using items you may already have at home as well as affordable finds we picked out at our local Target and HomeGoods and Z Gallerie stores.

We hope you enjoy!
