Room of the Day

Hi Everyone!
I hope your week is going well! It's been a good , busy week here at JWS. Working on a lot of fun projects!

I came across this living room and fell in love. There is so much to look at. It is visual eye candy.  My favorite is the large scale painting .

Loving Lucite --Fashion & Home

Sometimes, it's the je ne sais quois, isn't it?  It's just that Something about someone, some place, or some thing that makes them/it stand out.

I'm a HUGE fan of acrylic and lucite! I'm using it in my projects and it just has that "glam" factor for those people who request their space be such.

Check out these photos I found that are amazing!

Folks.. it doesn't get any better than this. Check out this wine cellar from Butler Armsden Architects.
Really?  Most beautiful wine cellar I've ever seen!

Thank you Jonathan Adler for this beauty!
Why, yes, I would like a mongolian lamb and lucite bench! Thank you, Jonathan Adler.

Cali Trip--San Francisco to Malibu

Woooo.... it feels like it should be Friday and it's only Tuesday. Crazy, but fun times!

First thanks for all your awesome comments here and on Facebook on the Capitol Hill project. I'm super psyched about it!

So, I'm excited because we just booked our family vaca to California. I've been dying to show my girls our old digs in Pacific Heights in SF and we want to do the 17-mile drive and head to Carmel, then Santa Monica and Malibu for a little R&R.

So.. it's been a while since I've been in SF, so I would LOVE to hear any places, sites, hotels, restaurants we need to hit while there in July.

Tell me your favs--please!

The Viceroy Santa Monica

Hi everyone!

I'm super excited to share with you today a newly completed kitchen makeover that I worked on, on Capitol Hill.  This was a project that was not complicated, but rather with the right choices in back splash and kitchen cabinet paint colors, made a world of difference.

In the before--we have the traditional  cherry cabinets and a not-so-pretty ceramic back splash.

Flash forward and voila we have a modern, clean, gorgeous kitchen. We selected a beautiful stainless steel and stone back splash and then two Benjamin Moore colors for the kitchen cabinets.  We first painted them an ivory-ish color and then glazed with a beautiful shade of gray.

Check out these before and after photos (sorry they are from a phone camera)!

On another note, there's a ton going on here.  Have exciting news to announce in the coming weeks with things I'm working on!

Framed Scarf as Art

Hi there
So I'm working on project  "Glam Condo" with super fab client LG and as part of her living room decor, our centerpiece on one wall will be a gorgeous framed silk scarf she found on her travels.

So, we are framing it and going to hang over a white lacquer console.

On that note, check out these photos I found of other framed scarves..

Maybe a great DIY project for the weekend???

Home & Design January Issue Party Pics

Hi Everyone!

Last night I was thrilled to attend the Jan/Feb Home & Design Magazine issue launch party at Architectural Ceramics.

There they honored those designers whose work had been featured in that issue!
Special thanks to Home & Design for showcasing my DC condo project! I was honored to be a part of the event!

It was a great event and AC even had a DJ and dancing area. People stayed for hours dancing the night away--we all had fun.

Here are some fun pics from the event!

A Hollywood Dining Room

Hi there,
So I have dining rooms on my brain. I'm in the middle of designing the dining room for the condo project I posted about yesterday and love getting inspiration from all sources.

I came across this ultra glamorous space and immediately thought how it could easily be in a Hollywood starlet's home.

What do you think? Yeah, Nay?

black and white. and LOVE those frames.

Hi Everyone,
Well, I had a great meeting with my fabulous client "L" yesterday to check in on progress of her condo. We are renovating and decorating the entire place. Here is a sneak peek on our progress..

Love this kitchen! Need to put backsplash in.. this is a glam place, so we will likely do tarnished mirror backsplash!

Entrance/Hallway.. Check out our new lights and custom doors!

Hi Everyone!
I don't know about you but I"m a sucker for glam entrances. An entrance is just like a first impression when you meet someone--you have one shot (sometimes!) to make a good impression, so why not do it in your own home. After all, it's the first space a person sees when enterting your home.

Here are a few I loved:

Dying to know where this is!!! Glamorous hotel lobby with an art deco flair. Love.

Decorator details (via @ElleDecor). #Design #Interiors

In the entry hall of a Chicago apartment designed by Jean-Louis Deniot, oak doors inset with antiqued mirror lead to the kitchen and private quarters.

An ebony-painted door accented with an oversize doorknob lends a glamorous entrance to the playroom.
