I'm Out/ Heliophilia

Just a heads up to everyone that I am going away for my girls' spring break for the remainder of the week, so I hope you all have a wonderful week and Easter. I'm ready for some WARM WEATHER!
I'll post my next blog post on Monday.
A lot to share with you next week--have a cool new giveaway too!

Deck Design

Hi Everyone!
Well, unbelievably it snowed here in Virginia this morning (and is still snowing)!
So, while I'm in spring mode designing deck décor, I'm still wearing sweaters and socks! Something is wrong with this scenario :)
Today I wanted to share with you a cheerful covered deck design using gray, white and yellows.  I incorporated a dining area as well as a lounge area. I love the pop of color with the yellow patterned pillows from Crate and Barrel.
What do you think?

Mint Green

I hope you are having a great weekend.  I'm still waiting for warmer weather here in Virginia, but at least it is sunny out today and my family and I just got back from a nice brunch.
Speaking of brunch, I'm planning on hosting a ladies brunch next month so I've been collecting ideas for it.
I'm loving mint green right now in both decor and fashion.
Check out this cool display!

Stuff Going On/Caitlin Wilson Pillows

Hi Everyone,
It's been one heck of a week here. First, my computer crashed; hence, why some of my blog posts have been delayed since I'm using another computer. Then one of my little ladies got sick, so needless to say, it's been hectic here.

Things going on this week:

---I checked in and hung drapes at my client's house (one where we painted entire brick wall white) and I'm so excited as we near finishing up.    For this, we ordered Caitlin Wilson pillows (to die for).
Check out her full line here.

--I'm working on a DC condo which is super fun and I'm excited to present the design in a few weeks
-Also working on a covered patio design with fun gray, aqua and blues

--Was supposed to go to the AD Show tomorrow in NYC but can't . BOO!

--Gearing up for my Miami trip.. Sun and Fun!

Below are the pillows from Caitlin Wilson we ordered!

We ordered the coral one below for a chair!

Beautiful Banquettes

Hi Everyone!

I'm so excited to be working a young couple's cool new condo.

We are going to do a banquette area in the kitchen to maximize space and seating so I thought I'd share with you today some very pretty kitchen and dining room banquette photos I found on Pinterest.  I like the idea of the nailheads too!

Which is your fav?

Family Room Project-- Making a HUGE Transition

Happy Friday!

I wanted to share with you today the before pics of a family room I"ve been working on the past several months.  We are going from outdated plaid to fresh, clean and modern!

We re-upholstered the client's chair and sectional with great  neutral fabrics.  Still in the process of selecting pillows and accessories. I'm getting so excited!

So, here are my mid-project photos too!

Gorgeous Tabletop Accessory/Centerpiece You Can Make

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope you are having a great week!

FIRST--A HUGE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM!  You couldn't ask for a better mom and I'm so THANKFUL for her!

I'm in mid-project with this major family room makeover so I am so excited to hopefully share with you in the next several weeks. It is so pretty thus far, if I do say!

I wanted to share with you today a GREAT FIND at your local Trader Joe's store, or other supermarket or nursery.

I walked in the other day and saw that they sell orchids, all sizes from $2.99 to $17.99. This is a great deal. Home Depot sells them for $29.

As with collecting any accessory, putting in bunches just makes them look nicer.

So, here's a quick and fun decorating project for you.

1) Buy 3-5 orchids any size
2)Get some real or faux moss from your local plant store or Michaels
3) Find a pretty container you already own or buy one
4) Put soil and water (follow plant directions) and group the orchids together somewhat snugly, but still allowing them room to grow
5) Add the moss on top
6) You now how a beautiful, LIVE, tabletop presentation!

Here are some inspiration photos!

A Fav Fabric and Its Affordable Counterpart

Hi Everyone!

As you know, I've been working on decorating in my own home..namely my master bedroom, but I'm sure as many of you also know, decorating can easily snowball into other rooms that simply "aren't done."  Enter my dining room! I still don't have any window coverings and I've lived here 3 years. I couldn't determine what I wanted, but I think this week I finally have!

All of my house is in neutral, solid colors--whites, grays and taupe. I like upholstery to be solid then add in patterned pillows which I can easily change out.

My dining room needs some "oomph" to it, and I recently came across David Hicks' La Fiorentina fabric.  Designer pricing of course.

I did a little research and found a look-alike fabric and am thrilled since it is so much more affordable.

Take a look at these beautiful photos of interiors using the David Hicks fabric.
And, here's an image of my look-alike, I found at Calico Corners.

What do you think about me using for drapes?

Project Complete: Casual Basement Makeover

Today I'm revealing a basement makeover that consisted of 3 different areas--a play area, game area and TV area.

We used Benjamin Moore's Perspective all over and used accents of a darker gray and orange to give the space some pops of color.

Thanks to Windows by Melissa  for making the orange trimmed drapes throughout!

We incorporated a custom rock wall for the family's two boys for extra fun!
