The Best Recipe (And Oh So Easy!)

This week has been pretty nutty here. I've had a minimum of 3 meetings per day, but am I lucky enough to have a coffee date with my girlfriend later this morning! Hello MP!

I am hoping to attend ALT in NYC in June, so I'm excited about that.

So today's post is actually not design related, but food related. I love finding a good recipe, so I wanted to share this one with you!

I love cooking and breakfast dinners are pretty fun around here. Last night I decided to make homemade raspberry pancakes with a side of bacon for the girls and my husband.

This recipe was SUPER EASY and the pancakes came out delicious! Everyone asked for seconds or thirds.  **Only change to recipe was I combined  fat-free milk and heavy cream in equal parts in place of the recipe's call for whole milk.  And, we didn't think you needed the raspberry preserves or confectioner's sugar on top since they were already sweetened.

I hope you enjoy!

  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 large egg, beaten lightly
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • Raspberry jam
  • Confectioners' sugar

  • Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and soda. (Add a pinch of
  • salt if desired.) Set aside.
  • In large bowl, whisk together yogurt, egg, butter and milk. Add to
  • flour mixture; stir just until combined. Fold in raspberries.
  • Heat a griddle over moderately high heat; brush with additional
  • melted butter. Drop scant 1/4 cupfuls of batter onto griddle; cook
  • for 1 minute or until bubbles form on top. Turn and cook 1 minute
  • more. Serve with raspberry jam and sugar. Yield: 4 servings.

Kid Space

OMG!  It's Wednesday, but I want it to be Friday. So much going on!

Excited to be going tonight to IFDA's Launch Party in D.C.

I'm also working on several projects which are so fun. I'm in the midst of figuring out a color scheme for a children's arts/crafts room. At the moment, I'm thinking Navy and Lime Green, but still deciding....

On that note, here are some fun pics I found for inspiration....

Stuff Going On

Hi Everyone,

In addition to my client work, I mentioned yesterday I'm working on my own master bedroom.  I'm having my tremendously talented contractor Stephen make my headboard (I want a super tall one!), so now I'm in the process of coordinating wall paint with the headboard fabric.

The paint colors I'm currently debating on are Benjamin Moore's Stonington Gray and La Paloma Gray. Stonington is a pale gray; La Paloma is a darker taupe-ish gray.

As well, I'm thinking about attending DIFFA's Dining by Design event next month in New York City. I've never been and have always wanted to go, so hopefully this is the time.

Have a lovely Tuesday!

And check out this creative dining room. I cannot find the source, so if you do, please post!

Don't Miss These Pics! Creative Ideas For Your Home

Happy Monday!

So, I'm in the middle of doing 3 bedroom projects and that's not including my own (You'll see my own master bedroom design board soon). That said, I'm in creative overdrive right now and am looking for some super cool ideas for all spaces!

Check out these stunners.....

Ceiling bookshelf!

Love, Love this beautiful metallic wallpaper. I've never seen any wallpaper this shiny before. I would do this in a powder room..

I would have never thought to do small width, super TALL mirrors in the bathroom. How glamorous and clever!

This is one of the most creative wall decor ideas I've ever seen. This would be great in a stairwell going down to a basement (like I suspect in this pic)

Reclaimed wood stairs! LOVE!

I normally paint brick white...but this brick painted black is so dramatic. Love it for an office or library

Creative baskets--Love this for a guest bathroom

Hope you are having a lovely Saturday.  We like to go to brunch on Saturday or Sunday on the weekend. I found this pretty tablescape and wanted to share these photos of yummy dishes I would love to try!

Sneak Peek: Sophisticated Gray Bedroom Design Board

Hi Everyone,

I am currently working with a great client whom is updating two bedrooms in her home.
Below is the design board I put together for one of them.

As you can see, we are going to use a cool gray on the walls, a cream wood headboard, and then add some punch with black accents.  I'll keep you posted as we move along on this project!

Design Event/Rooms I Love

Hi Everyone!
I hope you are having a good week.

Last night I attended Home & Design's March/April issue launch and had a great time. If you haven't already seen this particular issue--it's a good one and I recommend picking it up!
I met some great people and hit it off with another designer who lives very close to me!
It's such a small world.

Today I wanted to share some photos I came across of interiors I love. There's no rhyme or reason, just that I love them!

Hoping to do a sneak peek soon on several bedrooms I'm currently working on.

Kitchen Range Hoods-HELP ME DECIDE!

Hi everyone!

So I am looking to cover up my stainless steel range hood in my kitchen. It doesn't look bad, but I just think it would look super pretty to cover it with a wood range hood cover. Plus, the stainless steel gets dirty easily, so I'm hoping that covering it up with help with dust, etc.

Here's a picture of my kitchen range hood.
I think covering up that stainless will look good. What do you think?

Here are the hoods I found on Pinterest that I like.

Now, I need YOUR HELP!
Which should I do??

Happy Valentines With Love

Today it is a nice reminder to cherish those we love and adore.
To remember to tell people how much they mean to you, their friendship is special.

I just read somewhere that giving someone a specific compliment (aka-I love being around you because you make me laugh) is much more meaningful than a general one.

So, to my family--Mom & Dad--You are incredible, special parents and I love you dearly
To my husband and kids--Having a family is what I've always wanted and I'm blessed to have you
To My Sister--You are truly the best sister (and listener!) anyone could ever have.
To all my great friends--Your friendship means the world to me. Each of you has so many great talents
To my clients & blog readers: Thanks for giving me the opportunity to work with you and share my passion for interior design!

What I Just Bought

Hi Everyone!
So, whenever I have an upcoming trip, it's only natural for me to want to buy something for it. In this case, for my trip to Miami, I wanted an extra swimsuit. I have bikinis, so I decided on a stylish one piece that I could wear elsewhere too. I found this navy one at ASOS--can't wait for it to be delivered!

I also bought the chevron dress because it's a fun pattern and lighter material for hotter weather.

And, again, I'm featuring Sarah Swanson art. I bought this print and framed in white..perfection!

What have you bought for spring?

Gorgeous Details=Gorgeous Rooms

As a decorator, it's important to remember the details. It is the detail in the design that "makes" the room!  It sounds easy to "finish" up a room with accessories and other details, but it isn't always easy.
Creativity and a client's willingness to do something different is key!

I found some fantastic ideas on Pinterest to add that special touch to a room.

Here are some fantastic ideas. Don't forget to follow me here on Pinterest!  I think you'll love my Fav Places & Spaces page and the Glamorous Page.

Have a lovely day!
