At The Beach

My family is at the beach this week in Cape May, NJ. I vacationed here as a kid and have fond memories of this quaint, family-friendly beach town.

Project Hallway Vignette--Which Setup Is Best?

A little while back I showed you the table I purchased from HomeGoods for my hallway. Well, I FINALLY finished putting it together with a new wall gallery with photos taken by Meredith Puzenski of Meredith Puzenski Photography, a few accessories and two new lamps from HomeGoods.

Cabana Time

It's finally Friday! This has been a very long week. Glad holiday weekend is here.

My family needs (as I'm sure you do too!) some R&R.. My youngest daughter ended her first year of preschool yesterday and even at 3 yrs old they seem to know that it's summer and time for fun!

We are headed to the beach later this week. Here are pics of our hotel (sorry they are a little fuzzy)...  Can't come sooner!

Wonderful White (and shades in between)

If you know me by now, you know I love white. Period. It is my go-to many a time.

It is always crisp (thanks to bleach for those slip covered upholstered items) and it goes with every color under the rainbow.

HELP ME DECIDE! YES or NO?

At night, I live, breathe and eat decor (well, almost) :) 

I have a limited budget at the moment, but would like to update and finish up my office space.  

 I'd like to take down the yellow chevron curtains and put up white drapes with black border for a cleaner look.

 THEN, I came across the 2nd picture below. And, of course, I'm ready to speed dial my painter and ask him to paint this detail on my back wall. 

What do you think? Was thinking of doing in white. Could look killer, right? Or is it too much?

Help me decide, please!

Awesome Lighting

Happy Tuesday!

As a decorator, I naturally always love to shop, but there are a few decor items that I can't STOP shopping for because I love them so much.... One being--Lighting--I love a great lamp, chandelier, sconce, etc. 

So, when a couple months ago a client of mine needed to update her lighting in her home, I was psyched to start hunting! We found some fabulous ceiling fixtures as well as hanging pendants.

New Project; Stuff; Monday Muse

Good morning! Hope everyone had a great weekend.  

I first want to say THANK YOU to all my readers! I love waking up and writing/posting pictures that inspire us all.

Just a few things going on here ;) .  New project I'm working on--updating a sun room and family room for a good friend. Very fun! I've found some great pieces that are casual, family-friendly and design savvy! (Hint , hint KS!)  Also working with another friend on her very cool, modern office space!

In other JWS Interiors' news, my photos of the girls' bedrooms I was working on were accepted by a media company, so now I await to see what, if any, publications are potentially interested in using them! FINGERS CROSSED!! 

I'm disappointed I won't make it to Blogfest today in NYC, but will definitely get on the invite list for next year!

Sneak Peek: Chic Traditional Living Room Design Board

Hi Everyone!  For all the mothers' out there, I hope you had a fabulous, relaxing weekend. I feel refreshed and am ready to start another busy, but fun week!

As you may have seen yesterday's post, Northern Virginia Magazine featured JWS Interiors/Affordable Luxury in an online article about favorite local design blogs! So excited to be included as one of three blogs featured. 

Finally, I presented last week to an awesome client with a beautiful home. Here is the living room design board I put together. I think it's a pretty design plan.

Project Updates and The Tufted Ottoman

I keep thinking it's Friday, but alas only Thursday. Busy, busy week.  

I have a new client presentation today--very excited to be working with this family on a traditional living room. I love the colors I'm using--creams, tans, browns, and spa gray-green.. Very serene. 

Also working on a family's screened-in porch area (see outdoor design board posted earlier this week). 

For the modern family room project, we are waiting on more pieces to arrive in the coming months. The beautiful star burst wood mirror was hung on the painted white fireplace--perfection! 

FINALLY, what got me thinking about the tufted ottoman is that while normally I like more streamlined, non-ornate furniture, I've actually become fond of the tufted ottoman,as I researched for one for the traditional living room project.  

Check out these beautiful rooms using tufted ottomans. Bigger is better if you ask me!
