This Week's Work...and...Habitually Chic

Good morning! Hope you had a relaxing and fun weekend.

 I had a great weekend and am ready to start this busy week.. sent client "A" her patio design board 

(more on that later)...

I am submitting photos and an article for the bedroom project I just finished up to a few publications this week so I can't show you just yet.. I know it may be a long shot, but I have to at least try! 

I am presenting to client "S" this week for her modern office..

And, I came across a new favorite blog "Habitually Chic", run by Heather Clawson. Take a look --I think you will like!

Here's a pic that inspired me this week..got me thinking about doing bunk beds somewhere in my house.. I tell you..it never stops over here..I could decorate FOREVER! Couldn't you?

My Office

TGIF!  I am glad it's Friday and am looking forward to this weekend.  I've been trying to clean out my office as it's been a bit of a mess. In any case, here it is.. black walls and yes, the Drexel Heritage lamps I'm in love with from HomeGoods. I used 2 desks from World Market to span across the space.

I was shopping online and came across the jewelry line Loren Hope and fell in love with this necklace! I've never seen one like it..it can be worn with cute shorts and a white tee or dress up a maxi dress or solid colored outfit. 

 I love this color combo and wondered how those colors would translate for a room..

 I typically like neutral soft colors but this combo has got me thinking--when can I do a room with these colors?

Project Updates (A Before Pic) and A New Sponsor

A lot going on here. I'm finishing up my design board for the modern office I'm working on for client "S."

How to Use Coral

 It's no wonder Pantone named a coral color, Tangerine Tango for its Color Of The Year... I am finding a lot of coral everywhere I look these days..from fashion to home design, it is a beautiful color and can be paired with several other colors beautifully.  

For a light, breezy look, you can pair coral with light gray and white

For a dramatic, "look-at-me-now" look, pair with navy and white or black and white

For a fun, bright look, pair coral with turquoise and you have yourself some "pop"!

Starting Off The Weekend Right and John Magor Photography

Just a quick Saturday post this morning.. My weekend is starting off right after I woke up this morning and my kids served me breakfast! 

On another note, yesterday was so much fun shooting a project I just completed.

Outdoor Plants/Decor..Need Your Opinion

I'm on the lookout every day for great photos of outdoor spaces as I mentioned the other day. 

 I love boxwood to use for planters, but don't have a green thumb so any recommendations for hardy bushes/plants that don't need a lot of care would greatly be appreciated! Anyone??

Design News..Here and There..And Outdoor Inspiration

Thought I'd switch things up a bit and dish out some design news..both here in DC area and nationally.

Locally, Jonathan Adler in a few weeks will be opening his first DC store in Georgetown on May 22 on Wisconsin Avenue. Very exciting as I am a big Adler fan.  

In national design news, many of you may have seen new Target ads announcing its new boutique online shops that will showcase hundreds of new items, but ONLY available online. The specialty shops will run for six weeks beginning May 6. The first shops to open will be The Candy Store, Cos Bar, Polka Dog Barkery, Privet House and The Webster.  I'm hoping for some cool accessory boutiques... :)

Finally, I hope to be decorating our new deck this summer.. since we are in a planned community with homes immediately behind our home, for now I am going to have to likely spend a fortune on cool pots and plants and maybe trees to adorn our outdoor space to give us a little privacy.

New Project: Home Office

Hi Everyone!  I was excited to get a call the other day from an old client who has great new digs and asked if I could help her design her home office (of course I said yes!) since she is super swamped with a new baby girl. I am so excited as I love her modern style and she already has a great eye for what she likes.
